Gemini Exchange Adds Agentic Trading Tools

Permits use of Claude, ChatGPT and other AIs

Gemini President and CEO Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss

The Gemini crypto exchange has launched what it says is the first AI agentic trading tool available directly through a regulated, U.S.-based exchange.

Agentic AI is a growing trend in the crypto sector and beyond, with users expected to allow AI bots access to their financial activities at a rapidly expanding pace.

“Whether you’re a developer building a custom strategy from scratch or a trader who wants to plug in an AI agent and get started, you can now connect to Gemini… to use Claude, ChatGPT, or any other AI to automate your trading in a way that’s as simple or as powerful as you need it to be,” the Winklevoss brothers’ exchange said in a blog post.

Gemini Agentic Trading (GAT) is suitable for all skill levels, Gemini said. It can place trades, monitor markets, and manage risk automatically, letting users define a strategy and have an agent execute it.

The building blocks of GAT are Trading Skills, which are modular, pre-built functions AI agents can call upon to get things done. They can be incorporated directly into AI agents, allowing users “to issue a sell order of BTC when the price of Bitcoin reaches $100k, or to issue a buy order of BTC when the bid-ask spread reaches .01%.”

The first three skills will let users get market data, find the bid-ask spread for any trading pair, and access historical candlestick data to power pattern recognition and backtesting. Gemini plans to expand this skills library going forward.

“We believe we’re at the beginning of a fundamental shift in how people interact with financial markets,” Gemini said. “Agentic trading isn’t just a feature. It’s a new paradigm where AI handles the execution, patterns, and discipline, while you focus on strategy and goals.”

Rough seas ahead

Gemini has been under the microscope lately, following a series of cuts including laying off 25% of its staff, removing its COO, CFO, and chief legal officer, and withdrawing from the UK, EU, and Australian markets.

Gemini’s stock is down about 75% from its September 2025 IPO price, and Mizuho cut its price target for Gemini Space Station, the exchange’s parent, from $26 to $12. Shares are at $4.38 as of this writing.

Trading volumes were down to $5.3 billion in Q1 2026, compared to $11.5 billion in Q4 2025. But the firm has seen strong growth in its crypto debit card business, which saw transaction volume of $1.2 billion in 2025.
