Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget today announced the launch of Reality, a platform focused on tokenizing real-world assets (RWA), expanding its move into tokenization.
Reality will begin by offering tokenized U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETF). Bitget called the launch a “key step” in its Universal Exchange (UEX) roadmap, which seeks to combine access to crypto, on-chain markets, and traditional assets like commodities, foreign exchange, and precious metals such as gold in a single platform.
Reality will issue rTokens, onchain representations of publicly traded equities, Bitget said in a blog post. Each rToken will be backed 1:1 by real shares held by a FINRA-registered, SIPC-protected U.S. broker-dealer.
While rTokens are not actual shares, all corporate actions like dividends, cash distributions, and stock splits, will be matched for holders. But it will not offer governance and voting rights.
“Reality is built around Bitget’s 10% vision: by 2030, nearly 10% of financial assets could exist in tokenized form,” said Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget. “Stablecoins, faster blockchain settlement, and growing interest from major exchanges are pushing RWAs from experiment to market infrastructure. Reality is Bitget’s step toward making that future accessible to global users.”
The goal is to give Reality users access to market exposure traditionally limited by geography, market hours, fragmented platforms, and settlement barriers, the company said. Among other things, users will be able to use tokenized equities as a unified account margin to maximize capital efficiency, and to deploy these RWAs across Bitget’s native staking and lending products.
Bitget promises high transparency standards, with “independent third-party auditors delivering a live Proof of Asset dashboard and CPA-level audit reports to ensure verifiable asset integrity at all times.”
While Reality will initially concentrate on stocks and ETFs, expansion into other assets is planned for the future.
In April, Bitget launched IPO Prime, a market providing access to pre-IPO tokenized assets starting with preSPAX, a digital asset tied to the performance of Elon Musk’s SpaceX, and preOPAI, tied to OpenAI. Bitget said that while preSPAX mirrors the performance of SpaceX and OpenAI, it does not constitute a direct investment in the companies.
“Since the beginning of financial markets, access to pre-IPO opportunities has been defined by exclusivity,” Chen said at the time. “IPO Prime allows users to participate earlier in a company’s growth cycle, with the flexibility of continuous trading. This shifts how and when investors can engage with emerging companies, which gives retailers and new investors a chance to buy-in early. This is part of our greater shift towards building an UEX, democratizing access to financial equality.”
